First EKU Swing Dance!

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved with the 1^st EKU swing dance. A special thanks goes out to the Dance Theater for cosponsoring the dance with us.

 

The event was a blast. I have only seen this many people at one of UK’s big dance events. You all truly made this a special night.

 

For all of you just hearing about the club, please check the main site when you have time for updates about events in the region. We look forward to getting our club started and seeing you all at lessons.

One of the most super awesome dance events ever!

The UK HepKats are sponsoring a workshop from April 27th – April 29th called, you guessed it, Swingin’ in the Bluegrass.

This event features TWO workshops (Lindy and Balboa) and 3 Public Dances (which are free if you sign up for the workshop).

This is really an event that everyone should try to attend. It will be a great chance to work on your swing with two VERY good teachers.

March 24th Richmond Dance

I hope everyone had a great break last week. I just wanted to let everyone know that there is a dance this weekend in RICHMOND! The dance is at the Bluegrass Dance Center.

The dance is on March 24^th and will start at 8:00PM and end at 12:00AM.

The Cost is $5 and it should be a lot of FUN!

Swinging in the Spring Report and….Another Berea Dance?!

I’m proud to say that the Berea dance was fantastic and the workshops were very well done. The Saturday night dance was especially fun and packed! Click here to see some pictures from that night!

If you were not able to participate in the fun this last weekend you are not out of luck yet. The Berea Swing Club is putting on another dance THIS Saturday! Check out website for more details.

Now how about Directions?

 

1) 1) Take I-75 South to Berea exit 77.

2) 2) Take a left at the first light. You will go under a bridge and through a second right.

3) 3) Keep going straight. You will pass the Kentucky Artisan Center on your right and go over some train tracks.

4) 4) Soon you will reach a 4-way stop light (you will see a funny looking school on your right). Go straight.

5) 5) You’ll go up a small hill and come to another stop light. At this point you will be able to see Boone Tavern in front of you.

At this point you have several options for parking:

1) A) Take a left and keep to the right. You will see a parking lot on your right that has a wooden fence around it.

2) B) Take a left at the light. Then take the first street on the right (it’s not far). As you go down this street you will see a large parking lot. The side closest to you is Boone Tavern parking. The other side (by the Dorm) is public parking.

3) C) Go straight, but keep to the left. You will come to a 4-way stop. Keep going straight and down a hill. Near the bottom there will be a right turn (the second right) which leads to a parking lot.

 

6) 6) The Woods Pen building is near the Alumni Building and the Berea President’s house. Use the map to find it. The dance room is straight ahead as you enter the building.

 

 

 

Music Change

I’m sorry to have to let you all know that the Berea Jazz band in not going to be able to play at the March 2nd dance this weekend.

But the Berea club is going to DJ the event so you can still expect some great music. Maybe we’ll all be able to do the Shim Sham!!

Swinging in the Spring Dance- March 2nd and 3rd

What is Swinging in the Spring?!

“Swinging in the Spring” is Berea College’s first workshop. Its focus will be on Lindy Hop and Balboa. It’s a workshop with a kick-off dance Friday, March 2, 2007 and another dance the following night.

Cost is $5 for each Dance (Friday and Saturday) and $35 for the Workshop (optional). If you go to the workshop you get to go to the other 2 dances for free!
